BIO

I was born in the sprawling suburbs of Orange County, CA in 1979. After a worry-free childhood filled with soccer games and skateboarding, I migrated north in 1997 to get my Bachelor’s in Architecture from UC Berkeley. After graduating in 2001, I studied in Europe for a few years before returning to get my MFA in Design from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. I now live with my girlfriend in Los Angeles where I own and operate a small furniture design/build business.

PHILOSOPHY

While in architecture school, I developed a profound respect for the clear logic and power of the early Modernists, but overall, the work of mid-century Scandinavian designers like Hans Wegner, Poul Kjaerholm, and Alvar Aalto have influenced me most as a furniture maker. Like these men, I focus heavily on craft and material selection without straying from Modern ideals concerning form and function. I try to create furniture that will withstand the test of time, both stylistically and structurally, while enriching the lives and environments of those who use it. My belief is that until people are all the same, their furniture shouldn't be. I design and build for the individual.
